We first began by having a group discussion about what genre we would like to do, we began by looking at videos and clips of openings of Horror films to get some sort of ideas of what makes a successfull opening to this genre of film, after a lot of ideas we came to the conclusion that we all enjoy the genre Horror therefore thought this would be the best genre to do.
Reasons for choosing "Horror"
- we can experiement with the use of special effects
- the use of camera shots and angles
- the use of sound
- we would be able to get a reaction from the audience by creating tension in our opening scenes
- we all enjoy the genre Horror and therefore feel we would be able to get more involved in the task as we know what we think makes a successful Horror film.
Examples of existing Horror films
- Saw
- The Grudge
- Paranormal Activity
- The Exorcist
- Dawn of the Dead
This will be a difficult task to create an intense and captivating opening scene but with a good amount of research and working together we will be able to achieve a successfull opening scene.
